The Lions are lying second in Group E on six points, a point behind leader Iran. Their last match is against Jordan on 6 March.

The Garcon Test*

Players are required to run 125 metres withing 45 seconds. Upon completion, they are given 15 seconds to rest.

When the 15 seconds are up, they repeat the run but this time the distance is increased 6.25m to 131.25m. for each repetition, the distance is increased by 6.25m while the running (45sec) and the rest time (15sec) remain constant.

The test is used to gauge a player’s aerobic fitness.

John Wilkinson did 23 repetitions of the test, running a total of 4,456.25m.

The test was devised by Georges Gacon, the former fitness trainer with French football club Marseille.
